Parent and Guardian Expectations and Code of Conduct

As a parent/guardian I will:

  • Abide by the policies and code of conduct set out by the CJCC as well as adhere to the rules and regulations of the South West Metropolitan Junior Cricket Council (SWMJCC) and Cricket Australia.

  • Not interrupt the directions of coaching staff during any training sessions or games days (i.e., I must NOT coach OR shout direction during training and game days).

  • Not expect coaches to discuss player(s)/parent(s) concerns during training sessions and or game days. Any feedback/questions/complaints for coaches and managers should be addressed at a time agreed upon by all parties.

  • Follow a roster given via Team Manager to fulfill duties that assist in the running and management of the team i.e.: scoring, fruit, umpiring. (It is the responsibility of the rostered person to find a replacement in the event that they cannot fulfill their assigned duties).

  • Endeavour to provide assistance on game days with the setting up of equipment and tents prior to start of the game and/or help with packing down at the conclusion of the game.

  • Ensure that my child/ren arrive at training and games at the time specified by the coach, to ensure the smooth flow of game plans, warmups and training activities.

  • Advise of any holidays and or absences during the season as early as possible to assist in planning.

  • Lodge any issues that arise, that cannot be respectfully resolved between myself and the coach and/or manager, in writing and submit via email to the club President and/or Vice President.

  • Not force an unwilling child to participate in cricket.

  • Remember that children learn best by example. (Be responsible for your own actions).

  • Encourage players to play in accordance with the rules of the game.

  • Not ridicule a child or criticise mistakes. (When a player makes an error, they are well aware of that error, they do not need to be chastised from the side lines).

  • Support and encourage all players, including the opposition.

  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.

  • Respect umpires’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.

  • Show respect and appreciation to coaches, players, umpires, and administrators. These are voluntary positions and as such should be respected.

  • Focus on participation and player development rather than winning or losing.

  • Not coach from the side-line (the only information given to the players should come from the coach).

  • Discuss any concerns about the player’s welfare and development with CJCC child safety officer.

  • Not criticise the club or club officials on social media.

  • Not publish, in any forum, photos or personal information without consent.
